This crochet candy corn treat bag uses a flat round base, dense single crochet sides, and three classic colour sections. Materials
Use approximately 140 yards total of worsted-weight yarn: about 45 yards golden yellow, 45 yards orange, 40 yards cream, and a small amount of brown for the drawstring. Choose smooth cotton or acrylic that is easy to wash. You will also need a US H-8 (5 mm) hook, a locking stitch marker, scissors, and a yarn needle.

Gauge and Size

Crochet the Round Base
Round 1: With yellow, work 6 single crochet into a magic ring. Round 2: Increase in every stitch for 12 stitches. Round 3: Single crochet 1, increase; repeat around for 18. Round 4: Single crochet 2, increase; repeat for 24. Round 5: Single crochet 3, increase; repeat for 30.
Round 6: Single crochet 4, increase; repeat for 36. Round 7: Single crochet 5, increase; repeat for 42. Round 8: Single crochet 6, increase; repeat for 48. The base should lie flat. If it ripples, your tension may be loose; if it cups too soon, your tension may be tight.
Build the Candy Corn Sides
Round 9: Work 1 single crochet in the back loop only of every stitch. This creates a clean turning ridge. Rounds 10–16: Single crochet in both loops around with yellow. Join orange at the end of Round 16 without cutting the tail too short.
Rounds 17–24: Single crochet around with orange. Join cream at the end of Round 24. Rounds 25–31: Single crochet around with cream. Keep 48 stitches in every side round and move the marker after each round.
Make the Drawstring Channel
Round 32: Chain 1, skip 1 stitch, single crochet in the next stitch; repeat around. This creates 24 small eyelets. Rounds 33–34: Single crochet in every stitch and chain space around. Slip stitch to the next stitch, fasten off, and weave in all colour-change tails on the inside.
Crochet and Insert the Cord
With brown yarn, chain 95–110 or until the cord wraps around the bag with enough length to tie. Slip stitch back along the chain for a stronger cord. Weave it in and out through the eyelets, starting and ending at the front. Knot each end or add a small yarn tassel.

Troubleshooting
The base waves: remake it with a slightly smaller hook or tighter tension. The base cups early: use a larger hook or loosen the stitches. The colour join forms a step: finish the last stitch of the old colour with the new colour and keep all changes at the back. The cord is difficult to pull: make it thinner or enlarge the eyelets by chaining 2 and skipping 2 at even intervals.
